Like many I’ve been working from home over the last year or so. While I have a reasonable speaker system connected to my desktop PC, I can’t use it while I’m working on my laptop. The solution as ever lies in a custom PCB!

Audio Attenuator № 2

The volume control knob for my PC speakers has been intermittent as long as I’ve had them. Sometimes the left or right channel drops out entirely, other times one of the channels is quieter than the other. I’m not sure why it took me so long to realise I had the means to replace it but here we are.

I’ve been wanting to revisit my original Clamps pin badge for a while and replace the 5mm through-hole LEDs with reverse mounted SMD LEDs like my more recent Skeletor and Roberto PCBs.
Despite getting pretty close to sending the design off for fabrication, I was concerned that the product just wasn’t different enough from the existing Clamps design. So I decided to create my first Shitty Add-On!

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted and that’s mainly because I’ve been busy moving house. Now that’s out of the way I’ve got a bit more time for electronics projects. The first thing I’m tackling is much-needed addition to my audio setup.

As I mentioned in the previous post I’ve been waiting on an order of Skeletor badges from PCBWay. I’m pleased to say they’ve arrived, so here’s a quick update.

In previous posts I’ve talked about some of the difficulties I’ve had converting vector drawings to PCB layouts in Eagle. After discovering a video by Twinkle Twinkie where he shows off his workflow I thought I’d follow along and see what came out. The result is the Skeletor “Myah!” badge.
